Mack of many trades
ABOUT
Mackenzy Vida is a multidisciplinary artist from Treaty 4 Regina, SK with a focus on illustration, painting, and printmaking. Art therapy in early childhood ignited her passion for creativity. Through expressive linework, she highlights moments of connection and vulnerability, exploring her practice as an emerging Francophone artist on the prairies.During her undergraduate studies, Vida studied art history in Italy (2018) and gained valuable experience as a mentee designer at Globe Theatre (2019). Countless hours spent in the studios of the University of Regina further enriched her artistic journey. Following the pandemic, Vida tenaciously began to navigate work as an independent artist from 2020 to 2022.
In the following years, her love for printmaking brought her to Kyoto, Japan (2023). Vida is a graduate of the University of Regina in Visual Arts with a minor in Creative Technologies and a member of SK Printmakers and SaskQueer.
To share your art is an act of vulnerability.
As an emerging artist, I'm grateful to have been featured in solo and group exhibitions for my drawing, printmaking and installation pieces in both local galleries and others across the prairies. Still figuring it out as I go... thanks for stopping by.

Multimedia, ink, charcoal.
Working with gestural and expressive lines captures the emotional distress of anxiety that I experience. Portraying the physical manifestations and overwhelming feelings of compulsive worrying is a way for me to detach from these thoughts,
leaving them on the page. Using washes, ink, and layered drawing, aid in building the visual narrative.
While working with personal themes, I often choose to use androgynous figures to avoid centering myself. This allows the viewer to find themselves in the work. Hands are often used in my work to represent the human form without implications of gender.
